Tara School, Inc., is a Christian non-profit charitable organization supporting Christian home schoolers in Northern Virginia. Tara School, Inc., operates Tara Learning Center located in Reston, Virginia. Tara Learning Center supports the home-schooling community by offering courses to high school students (7-12th) such as composition and literature, languages, math, and science. Tara offers testing, transcript preparation, and diplomas. We seek to serve the Lord by being an encouragement to parents who need assistance in educating their teens.
A History of Tara School, Inc.
Tara School, Inc., was founded in 1972, by Colonel and Mrs. Ross F. Rogers. Christian school operations began in the Rogers’s home with seven kindergarten students. Tara quickly expanded with the addition of elementary, junior high, and high school classes. A modern 12-classroom facility was constructed on Sunset Hills Road in Reston in 1980. At its maximum capacity, Tara had 300 students and a dedicated faculty of talented Christian teachers. In 1996, the Sunset Hills Road building was sold and Tara relocated to its present facility at Bowman Green Drive, Reston.
Tara School, Inc., now operates as Tara Learning Center, providing specialized tutoring and teaching small classes in science, math, languages, English composition and other subjects. In addition, the Center provides testing and academic counseling services. The school operates as a non-profit corporation and has always provided educational services below cost. Consistent with the vision of its founders – Ross and Jane Rogers – Tara endeavors to honor God by providing quality educational services that acknowledge God’s superintending authority over all His Creation.
